The article analyzes the regulatory and scientific-technical literature in the Russian Federation concerning the provision of electromagnetic safety (EMS) at design, construction, reconstruction and operation of industrial and civil facilities. The analysis has shown that there are some drawbacks in the documents under consideration concerning the determination of electromagnetic field (EMF) intensity indices. To provide EMS, it is proposed to develop new methods for evaluating of EMS, taking into account the results of modern scientific research in this area and use technical tools for instrumental monitoring and evaluation of the required EMF indicators that have reasonable metrological characteristics. The authors substantiate the necessity of developing a system of electromagnetic monitoring of real estate objects.
