Some features of calculating structures with tuned mass dampers using accelerograms of design-basis earthquakes

The paper considers the calculation of a structure with a tuned mass damper using accelerograms of design-basis earthquakes. To calculate the structure with a damper, there were generated three artificial seismic inputs, namely, a dangerous one for an unprotected structure, a dangerous one for a structure with a mass damper for the first prevailing frequency, and a dangerous one for a structure with the mass damper for the second prevailing frequency. Some recommendations are given for calculating systems with mass dampers under the seismic input of the design-basis earthquakes. Explanations are offered regarding the efficiency decrease phenomenon in case of using the damper under the accelerogram actions as compared to the actions of harmonics.
