Guidelines for authors
Main text
Articles of 5 to 15 pages (10 to 25 thousand characters with spaces), including tables and figures, which have not been published before, are accepted for consideration. The electronic version should be provided in MS-Word 10 and below (or RTF) format and named after the author's surname and first words of the title.
For example: Postnov. Use of method.doc (or .rtf).
The article should be submitted to the Editorial Board in electronic form and sent to vestnikspb@mail.ru (with indication of the author’s name and the title of the work).
The text should be typed without hyphenations. All fields of the page should be 25 mm each, Times New Roman font, font size 14 (hereinafter: pin), one and a half line spacing. Paragraph indent shall amount to 0.7 cm. Spaces and tabulation at the beginning of paragraphs are not allowed!
In the upper corner of the page above the title of the article (left-handed alignment) the UDC (Official Online Directory http://www.udcc.org/udcsummary/php) should be written; under it, the following should be indicated in italics: the author’s (authors’) initials and last name(s); academic degree and title/position (in brackets); full (official) name of the organization where the author works (or studies), and e-mail address. The same information in English should be indicated in the upper right corner of the page. The title of the article should be spelled (centered) in lowercase letters, in Russian and English. A detailed abstract of the paper (600-650 characters) with keywords in Russian and English should be placed right underneath.
In the text, references to literature should be given in square brackets.
It is necessary to follow the same rules in the design of quotation marks, footnotes and references:
Quotes should look as follows: “...”.
The number of the reference, when it falls on the end of the phrase, should be placed after the quotes: “...” [1].
The bibliographic list should be composed in accordance with GOST 7.0.5-2008 and placed in the end of the article.
We kindly request you to use modern scientific literature and pay attention to the number of references (preferably, no least than 15 scientific sources).
Regulatory documents (SP, SNIP, and GOST) reference materials and statistical data should not be included in the bibliographic list (we recommend to indicate them in footnotes).
Formulas and tables
Formulas and special characters (e.g., Greek letters) in the article should be typed in text (menu item “Insert: Symbol”). For complex formulas, use the MathType formula editor (menu item “Insert: Object”). If a complex formula occupies several lines, then each one should be placed as a separate object, the width of which is no more than 8 cm. For formulas that are selected in a separate line, punctuation marks are typed together with the formula. Formulas must be formatted 100% horizontally and vertically.
Font size: main font: pin 10; large index: pin 8, small: pin 7; large character: pin 14, small: pin 10. Russian and Greek letters are typed in roman type, Latin: in italics.
It should be borne in mind that when typesetting, formulas should be placed on half of the page (7.8 cm along with the formula number). Long formulas should be broken down into separate chunks. The hyphenation of formulas is allowed at the plus and minus signs, less often, at the multiplication sign. These characters should be repeated at the beginning and end of the hyphenation. Fragments of formulas must be independent (when using the formula editor, each line should be typed in a separate object). Numbering should be placed separately from formulas in plain text. Tables in the text should be typed using standard MS-Word tools (menu item “Table: Add Table”). Font size: pin 9. Table width: 80, 170 or 230 mm (the latter with a 90-degree turn). Tables should be numbered and have a title. The text should contain links to tables. The word “Table” in the text should be written in abbreviated form (“Tbl.”) and in full form above the table. The name of the table columns should be typed with a capital letter, and subordinates with a lower case. If the table has a continuation, its name is not repeated, and above the table one should write: “Continuation of table” and its number.
Illustrations
Illustrations should be presented separately from the article (in the total volume of the article, one figure is counted as one page). In the text, in the place of the proposed figure, the figure number and the figure caption should be placed, separated from the text above and below by one interval. It is advisable to avoid colored drawings.
For example: Fig. 1. Dependence of the coefficient k on voltage
The size of the figure with the caption should be no more than 170, 230 mm. The inscriptions on the figure and the caption under it should be made in Times New Roman or Symbol, pin 9.
Electronic version. Each figure should be saved in a separate file, with the same as the article file, but with the addition of the word “fig.” and member of the figure.
Example: Postnov. Using the method. Fig. 1.cdr.
Acceptable formats:
• for drawings with captions: .WMF (Windows meta file), .CDR (Corel Draw, version 10 and below), .DWG (AutoCAD, version 2007 and below)
• charts can also be presented in MS-Excel 97 (and below) format, but each chart shall be presented as a separate file
• for figures without inscriptions: .TIF (resolution not less than 300 dpi).
Materials that do not meet the specified requirements shall not be accepted for publication.
No payment for the publication of manuscripts from SPbGASU postgraduate students and employees shall be charged.
Articles rejected by the editors shall not be returned.
