Review article

The article considers various approaches to the definition of the "small business" concept, and also the role of small enterprises in economic development of the Russian Federation. An analysis of the state support of this sphere of economy is made. It is postulated that competent financial and monetary policy on the support of small business is impossible without understanding of the essence of the "small business" term, as well as the formation of measures of the state support of this sphere of economy.
