In 1932-1934, a new housing estate for workers and employees (social settlement) was constructed in Yaroslavl, the construction process being carried out simultaneously with that of a new synthetic rubber plant. On its example, the specificity of the organization of the Soviet working settlement is considered through the prism of the basic principles and guidelines of the state urban policy of the second half of the 1920-s. The article aims to prove that this town-planning complex is a characteristic typological sample of the Soviet time, illustrating the doctrine of the Soviet working settlement. New information on the history of urban planning of the Soviet period of Yaroslavl is provided.
