Inexpensive and effective methods of wastewater treatment are one of the urgent challenges of our time. The paper considers the possibility of using polymeric fibrous materials to remove from wastewater particles 20 μm in size. Fibrous polymeric materials are shown to be highly effective while being inexpensive. Within the frames of the study, there has been investigated the structure of fibrous material made of polypropylene and polyethylene, as well as the possibility of applying it as a filtration material in the treatment of oily wastewater. The results obtained indicate the potential of polymer fibrous materials and open up new prospects for improving wastewater treatment technologies.
