The paper proposes an accelerated method for determining the long-term strength of wood and wood-based materials, which is based on the kinetic approach to fracture of solids. The test is carried out with a slowing rate of stress growth, which makes it possible to significantly delay the moment of fracture, thereby increasing the experimentally determined reduced time compared with the known test method at linearly increasing stresses. The stresses do not change over time linearly, with the dependence described by the quadratic parabola equation. The developed method can be used for further studies of the durability of wood-based materials and structures made of them under various stress-strain states.
