Review article

The article considers the prospects of application of multi-storey residential buildings in Europe and in Saint-Petersburg. The authors study the evolution of high-rise buildings in Europe, which has taken place for the past 40-50 years. The aesthetics of the city formation, its aspects and trends, identification characteristics of high-rise buildings are taken into consideration. Particular attention is paid to the alternative types of housing in a large city.
