Review article

The article presents the results of historical analysis of the tourism and recreation environment development from a position of the cluster approach as the most effective method of using the region potential on the micro- and meso-level. The priority goals and objectives in the formation of the architectural environment for sustainable regional development of tourism at each stage in the regarded time period system are identified. Problems typical for the objects of complex tourist and recreational architecture in regional tourism (on the example of the Ural region) are designated and the ways of solving these problems within this approach at the regional and Federal level are defined.
