Review article

The article considers the history of emergence and development of the 4D modeling in the practice of design and construction. The possibilities of 4D modeling and areas of application of 4D models in international construction practice at present are analyzed. Regulatory requirements for 4D modeling in the Russian Federation are scrutinized. An analysis of 4D modeling software is provided. An assessment is made of the possibilities of using 4D modeling in domestic construction in the current conditions characterized with sanctions pressure and the need for import substitution of foreign software. The functional requirements for 4D modeling software necessary for effective application in construction practice are considered.
