Review article

The paper presents an overview of the main methods used to determine the permissible additional settlement of the surrounding historical buildings located in the zone of influence of new construction or reconstruction. There has been performed a numerical simulation of the joint operation of the «basement -foundation -structure» system taking into account the development of non-uniform deformation of the base. The necessity of improving the currently used approaches through the application of complex nonlinear models reproducing the damage to historical buildings is substantiated.
