Review article

The article considers the causes for the need to make changes in the design of vehicles. The need for assessment of the impact of changes introduced into the design of vehicles on road safety is indicated. The possibility of developing a two-stage model allowing to make this assessment is presented. On the basis of the current regulatory and technical documentation, there have been developed models for conducting a preliminary technical expertise and verification of the vehicle design safety taking into account the changes introduced. The idea of the minimum initial data required for the qualitative assessment is given.
