Evolutionof sustainable and circular waste management

Annotation: 

The article considers the issues associated with evolutionof global and societal waste management practices,transitioning from a «disposal-oriented model» toa resource-focused model aligned with the principlesof a circular economy, the genesis of the formation ofan industrial segment in a waste management system isinvestigated. The transformational development of theRussian system in this area is considered, an assessment ofthe «garbage reform» is given. It is concluded that, subjectto a combination of evidence-based policies, effectivetechnologies, economic incentives and a responsibleattitude of society, sustainable waste management can beachieved.
