Review article

This article describes the method aimed at strengthening the centrally compressed reinforced concrete elements through using a combination layer between the hooping and the reinforced element, which increases the bearing capacity of the compressed elements while increasing operating loads and the emergence of local character defects. The advantages and disadvantages of this method are shown. Recommendations on the use of structural reinforcement are given.
