The article presents a methodology and algorithm for solving the optimization problem of selecting a thermal insulation material. It is proposed to consider a ranked set of alternative materials as a solution to the multi-criteria optimization problem. To move to a scalar objective function, an additive function with weight coefficients of local criteria is used. The weight coefficients were calculated by paired comparison of criteria based on floating preference. The considered methodology is aimed at selecting a thermal insulation material at the initial stages of design and can be used in decision support systems for designing energy-efficient buildings and structures.
