Annotation:
The article presents the characteristics of thionic and nitrifying bacteria microorganisms which induce the development of biological destruction processes of brickwork. There has been carried out a microbiological analysis of samples of damaged building materials (brick and masonry mortar); the volume of open pores of materials subjected to biological destruction has been determined. The author describes chemical processes taking place as a result of the impact of microbial metabolism products negatively affecting building materials, which leads to the materials` damage.
