Review article

For the first time conditions and factors of formation of specific spatial-planning structure of the historical centre of Murmansk are studied. Specific features of the terrace morphology of the initial local topography are analyzed. The importance of the main provisions of the first Master Plan for the development and transformation of the spatial-planning structure of the city is revealed. The specificity of the structure of the main meridional transport axis of Murmansk and its importance for a gradual formation of the volumetric and spatial structure of the historical centre of the city is revealed. Schemes of a step-by-step development of the planning structure of Murmansk are presented.
