Annotation: 

The article describes the possibility of determining the tap water stability quality in St. Petersburg according to the calcium carbonate saturation index and assesses the possibility of using metal pipes in water supply systems. Examples of the use of steel galvanized pipes at internal hot water supply networks in different districts of the city are given.
