Comparison of the estimated soft clay settlement at the base of a building with monitoring data

Annotation: 

A feature of the geotechnical conditions of the White Sea coast and island territories in the Northern Dvina Delta is the presence of multi-meter thickness of silts covered with a layer of sand. Here, for buildings of five or less floors, attempts were repeatedly made to use "short" piles, the tip of which does not reach the roof of silts by1... 4 m. This engineering solution requires a research of the compressibility of characteristics of the marine soft clay and a settlement of geodetic control data analysis of buildings during the operational period. The results of numerical modeling of one of the residential buildings of Severodvinsk in PVK "PLAXIS 3D" and the data of long-term high-precision geodetic measurements of settlement are presented. The deformation characteristics of silts-compression index Cc and secondary consolidation coefficient Cα - for the Soft Soil Creep (SSC) model in the PLAXIS 3D software package were determined according to laboratory test data and using empirical relationships previously identified for the city territory.
