Review article

The Smolensk Fortress is an important symbol of the city and the region. It has repeatedly become the subject of depiction of artists and graphic artists. The article analyzes the transformation of the representation of the fortress architectural heritage in the landscape of the XVIII- XIX centuries, metamorphoses of figurative content of pictorial works are considered. Conclusions are made about the existence of groups of fine art works depending on the image view perspective. The results obtained can become the basis of scientifically based measures for the preservation and restoration of monuments of fortification heritage.
