Review article

The concept of polycentric urban agglomeration is analyzed. On the example of the Saint-Petersburg city agglomeration, there is offered a solution allowing placing most effectively multipurpose sub-centers on the agglomeration area. The approach offered promotes improvement of quality of the urban environment and cutting the costs of town-planning development. The main methods of implementation of the concept are specified.
