Regression analysis is a technique that allows analyzing the data and determining relationships between the variables, transforming them into a functional form for practical application. There are many models and methods for estimating the coefficients used to predict the values sought. In engineering practice, regression analysis is used to simplify and describe complex relationships in limited ranges of data.A comparative analysis of different types of regression models using the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) metric is presented. It is demonstrated that the combination of logarithmic and polynomial functions provides the best results for solving problems with significant data outliers. The described method is suitable for nonlinear problems encountered in engineering practice, in particular for geotechnical calculations.
