Annotation:
This article explores the current trends in thedevelopment and expansion of urban areas, namelyredevelopment and gentrification methods. The authoranalyzes the trends of real estate objects as a profitableinvestment of invested funds, on the one hand, and as a problem in their reconstruction, on the other hand. The reasons for the development of redevelopment of old urban real estate, the opportunities offered by this trend; its pros, cons and consequences, if the process is not controlled, are defined. The measures of state regulation of the processes of renovation of depressed areas are considered, which allow developing not only neighborhoods and houses, but also small and medium- sized businesses.
