The article presents the results of a study of the street and road network in Russian cities in terms of their density. To understand the process of changing the lane density of the network, the cities were divided using concentric circles with a step of 1 kilometer. For each kilometer zone, the area of the developed territory and the length of the network were determined, taking into account the number of lanes. The study showed that as the farther one moves from the center to the periphery, the lane density of the network decreases according to an exponential model, which suggests a similar decrease in the capacity of the city’s street and road network.
